3M CBM MODEL FINAL REPORT
Questa Engineering Corporation, December 2000
1. Introduction
This CD contains the 3M CBM Model Final Report. This report is the culmination of a reservoir modeling study of the Fruitland Formation coalbed methane (CBM) in the Colorado portion of the San Juan Basin. The study was commissioned by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and the Bureau of Land Management to better understand CBM in the Fruitland Formation.
2. Contents
The CD contains the final report documents in MS Word format. The final report consists of two volumes:
Volume I: The CBM Model Final Report contains the written technical analysis of the reservoir study.
Volume II: The CBM Model Users Guide contains the documentation for the 3M CBM Model reservoir simulator included on the CD.
In addition to the final report, this CD contains the input data sets used to construct the reservoir model, output data sets resulting from the simulation runs, and the executable versions of the reservoir simulator used for the model. All input and output data sets are in MS Excel and MS Access format.
Section 9.0 of Volume II of the final report contains a complete list of files contained on this CD.
3. Minimum System Requirements
The most of the files contained on this CD have been compressed using the WinZip™ file compression program into to the 3M.zip file. The unzipped files occupy approximately 1300 MB of disk space. We recommend that the user have a minimum of 5 GB available on their PC hard drive to be able to unzip the contents of this zip file and have adequate free disk space available to the run the simulator.
Due to the size of some of the input and output MS Excel spread sheets, as well as the size of the simulation study area, it is recommended that the user have a PC with at least a 500 MHz processor and 256 MB RAM minimum memory. 512 MB of RAM is preferred.
4. Unzipping the Files
It is recommended that the user copy the 3M.zip file from the CD to their hard disk and then uncompress or unzip the file. Because of the way in which the files were zipped, the directory structure will remain intact and be preserved on the hard disk. Sub-directories will be established for the final report files, the simulator support and executable files, and simulation input and output files.
5. Support
Limited support will be provided by Questa Engineering Corporation for system set and file copying questions. Questa Engineering Corporation can be contacted at (303) 277-1629 or 3M@questaeng.com..
